Meat price changes
Since this time last year we have seen lamb racks increased by as much as 37%. Diced lamb by 26% and beef topside by 9%.

Lamb prices double
Lamb prices have doubled since 2000, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics Consumer Price Index. In an article written by John Rolfe, Consumer Affairs Reporter for The Daily Telegraph, it is proposed that this could mean that households could be paying as much as $100 kg for lamb racks before the end of 2016.

Vegetable Prices Fall - Finally!

Some vegetable prices have fallen significantly this month, however some suppliers are struggling with quality. There are a few ingredients that are increasing in price but you should see a reduction in vegetable costs
overall.

Vegetable prices decrease across the board
The price of cauliflower has fallen by 33%, Lebanese cucumbers are over 15% cheaper and cos lettuce is down 11%. Brown onions are down 15%, desiree potatoes are 18% cheaper, pontiac potatoes are 19% cheaper and Roma tomatoes are down 16%.

Food prices at a 15 month high

With the end to the recession we could expect food prices to start to fall. Unfortunately that is not the case.

If you are not keeping a very close eye on your ingredient costs now your profits will be suffering and you could be missing some great opportunities.
