Fine Food Queensland

A multitude of foodies gathered at the Brisbane Convention Centre for the Fine Food Queensland show. Many hospitality suppliers were there displaying anything that one would need in the hospitality business. Coffee companies showing their wares were in abundance with Bun Coffee, Byron Bay Coffee Company, Merlo and Octane Coffee Co being the standouts.

Food displays took up half the space and the other half was catering equipment or services. There seemed to be quite a few sushi-making machines...interesting. I was most impressed with KOR Kitchens on the Run, fully-equipped transportable commercial kitchens, wow these were impressive!

The standouts of the show for me were:

There seemed to be a lot of wholesale cake suppliers, many of which I found looked too mass-produced or even to the point they looked fake. The standout of the show to me was Ed Baker 0457 020 211 info@edbaker.com.au. Their food looked real and inviting and dare I say it, homemade, something that I prefer.

The smoked duck, BBQ duck and duck sausage sampled from Pepe’s Ducks www.pepesducks.com.au were fantastic.

There were numerous water suppliers on offer. Cooroy Mountain Spring Water representing Queensland and just over the border,

Mount Warning Spring Water www.mountwarningspringwater.com. With so many waters coming from Europe, its nice to see some locals with low food miles.

Whilst we’re still on beverages, two soda companies seemed to be popular stands in the show. American Soda Company www.americansodacompany.com.au and Jones Classic Soda www.jonessoda.com Both had groovy bottles and great merchandising.

Chanthra and Con from My Thai in Auchenflower were showcasing EPH Seafood and Groceries products. Great to see them here cooking up a storm. My Thai Restaurant and Cooking School www.mythai.com.au

Menucoster www.menucoster.com.au has been great for my business as now he has the chefs on track for costing our menus at Freestyle Tout. Great to see Gareth out and about.

Jimele www.jimele.com.au had a fantastic array of tart shells on display in different shapes and sizes.

Ready Bake www.readybake.com.au also had all their savoury short crust and puff pastry shells on display.
