The Granite Belt’s Mallow Organic Lamb was announced as a finalist in Delicious Magazine’s acclaimed 2011 Produce Awards last week.
The Produce Awards celebrate Australia’s best artisan producers and are judged by some of the nation’s leading chefs including Alla Wolf-Tasker, Matt Moran, Maggie Beer, Philip Johnson and Cheong Liew.
Delicious Magazine has informed finalists that they received a record number of entries this year, with nearly a thousand products judged from around Australia.
Owners of Mallow Organic Farm, incorporating Mallow Organic Lamb, Andrew and Helen Ferrier said they were very proud and honoured to be amongst the finalists.
“To be honest we are a little overwhelmed as a very small niche producer amongst well established and serious foodies”, Mrs Ferrier said.
“We are particularly excited that Matt Moran is involved in the judging process. As a leading chef who grew up on one of Australia’s premium lamb farms, he certainly knows his lamb.”
Granite Belt Wine and Tourism’s Director of Marketing Anissa Williams said she was proud of Mallow Organic Farm’s achievement and it was another example of the exceptional produce from the region.
The winners of the Delicious Magazine 2011 Produce Awards will be announced on the 25 July at the Sydney Opera House.
