Letter from a Small Business Owner

Mon, 05/07/2010 - 4:43pm | by Martin

Dear Mr Abbott

I write to you as a small business owner who despite the odds, succeeded in opening two new businesses in the midst of the global financial crisis.  I have 31 staff, 2 of them permanent and 29 of them casual.  It has been a great joy to employ these young people and bring employment and first jobs to many of them in our local community

South Bank Surf Club

Thu, 24/06/2010 - 11:02am | by Martin

Ben O'Donoghue and the Katarzyna Group officially opened their latest venture, the South Bank Surf Club, in South Bank beside Kodak Beach. The venue consists of vast undercover open areas with timber batons and white bar stools and chairs. The South Bank Surf Club overlooks Kodak Beach and has amazing city views. I think it would be worth checking this one out as it is going to be nice and casual and family-friendly.

Three Little Piggies

Tue, 22/06/2010 - 3:44pm | by Martin

Three little piggies named Brick, Stick and Straw on the De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate were given the love with a diet of acorns (which they loved)until they got the chop!

I was lucky enough to be present for Salami Day and experience this tradition and meet the extended De Bortoli family...

One of the pigs made it onto a spit...delicous!
