Taste Trekkers

logoSally Lynch from Taste Trekkers offers a variety of different overseas food experiences throughout the year. This year she has Vietnam, Spain and Vanuatu all ready to go.

The treks are all small groups and are stuctured in such a way that you are able to get into locals homes and cook and go to the traditional ,off the beaten track ,restaurants for meals and other cooking experiences. We get to see the produce being manufactured and grown and then of course go to the market places where it is sold. It is a real food adventure put together for those who love disovering new products, equipment, cooking methods and exploring other food cultures.

stunningviewsSally has been working and cooking in restaurant kitchens for over 20 years and has been lucky enought to travel regularly throughout. Originally from Melbourne she has been in Brisbane for the last 8 years – many of them developing and establishing The Loaded Larder, a food manufacturing company. The Loaded Larder was sold in 2007 to a Cheese company in Melbourne and since then Sally has started Taste Trekkers and does local food treks around Brisbane, Cooking Classes and Gourmet weekends away to Straddy.

“I believe that travelling is a really important part of being a great cook or chef. It allows you to totally understand other cultures and cuisines and taste food in its natural habitat if you like – plus its got to be one of the perks of working 16 hour days in a hot kitchen!”

Vietnam is  a food lovers paradise – not to mention the beer (each area brews their own!) Bia Hoi is a daily occurance and one not to be missed. Not dissimilar to tapas – the daily ritual of drinking beer and being offered an array of fantastic bar snacks, varies on which corner you park yourself.

Spain is a trek through Andalucia. Madrid, Sevilla and along the coast. You will a experience an

amazing tapas crawl, chorizo, salchichas, jamon, and cooking in local mamas homes – great for getting the creative juices flowing for when you are back at home and doing that 16 hour shift.
