About the region

A number of wineries, cellar doors and vineyards have been established within an hour of Brisbane from Mt Cotton to the picturesque Brisbane Valley including Ipswich, Purga, Harrisville, Mt Alford, Boonah, Stockyard, Marburg and Mt Nebo. Ipswich and the surrounding region is known as the food bowl of South East Queensland. With a growing food and wine tourism industry and a relaxed lifestyle it’s the perfect place for a day trip or short escape. Mt Cotton enjoys the spectacular views of rolling vineyards and native bushland looking out to Moreton Bay and the sand ridges of North Stradbroke Island. The region’s warm climate provides good conditions for growing premium grape varieties.

As well as fabulous wineries and cellar doors, this region boasts many other activities including hot air ballooning in the Lockyer Valley and Mount Cotton, a huge variety of country markets and festivals. The region has several lakes enabling a plethora of watersports.

How to get there

The wineries of the scenic rim are located within a one hour radius of Brisbane, both south west and south east.
